About
I often get asked about the meaning of “yuumoushin” and why I chose it, so I figured I’d write about it here.
“Yuumoushin” is a word I made up from combining a couple of Japanese characters from different words I liked. “Yuu” is the Chinese reading of “isamashii,” and it basically means “gallant,” or “brave.” “Mou” I took from the word “mouretsu,” and it represents “intensity,” or something that’s “fiery.” I took “shin” from the character for “heart/spirit.” Together = “intrepid spirit.” If you ask a Japanese person, they’d probably need a bit of an explanation; you’d might to show them specifically which characters since it’s not very common (and rather hard).
As for the why, well, I wanted something that captured, what I felt, was my outlook on life. I’ve been through a lot, but I’ve always been able to come out on top emotionally and with a positive perspective. Not everything in life is going to work the way you want it to, but that doesn’t mean that you have to get upset, and let yourself be pulled down by those little “bumps.” Life’s too short to have regrets – don’t wallow in your own self pity; go out there and do something about it.
